Not just Burgers, Quality Patties

IForemost, the quality of the food is second to none in the area.
95% of the food at the Cosy Corner is prepared and cooked fresh daily.
Our Burgers are made from 100% forerib of beef and seasoned. The pattie is pressed and seasoned prior to cooking and griddled til just cooked to ensure sealing the natural flavour of the meat juices.
A quarterpound burger consists of 2 2-3 oz patties in a sesame seed bun, with the optoin of Fried onions and/or salad and optional dressing.
We believe they are the best around, we would value your opinion.
Above is the 4" quarterpound cheese and bacon Burger. The Half Pounder has 4 Patties and double the toppings. MASSIVE.

Traditional Pies Pasties etc

Williams the family name. Historicaly known in the Bury st Edmunds , Suffolk region as butchers and bakers. Sadly the businesses folded after the Great war, but the recipes live on throughout the family.
In the Cosy Corner Shortie brings these fine pie recipes back to life using the best ingredients available.
The best forerib flank is trimmed and seasoned to make the perfect Steak Pie filling and the very same cut is minced for our Mince and Onion Pies and Cottage Pies.
The fillings for the pies are made fresh daily and prepared and cooked to order to ensure the best quality possible, so only the days batch is available.

Our Famous Curries

Having spent many years of his childhood in Singapore, Shortie enjoyed the fruits of his Mothers cooking knowledge that she had picked up from locals in the village of Jalan Kayu.
From this Shortie has learned the delicate art of balancing the flavours of the pungeont and aromatic tones offered by the spices of the region.
Finding the balance of a Chicken Curry was a task. Shortie decided to attempt to make a regular curry to apease most pallettes. The curry was to be flavoursome but manageable for those who prefer less heat. Using ingredients such as Cardomon, Cumin, Fenugreek, fresh ginger and garlic, with just a hint of chilli, the curry was as good as pleasing to most that ate it. Even those that prefer a hot feast, enjoyed the flavoursome meal and many come back time and time again to enjoy it's flavour.

Guest curries, such as this Malasian beef fruit curry are often on the specials board and also go down a treat.

Roast Beef Sunday & Midweek Roast Lamb Thursday

The meat on this island is wonderful. It's the way it is raised in natural environments. It is moist and flavoursome. It is a pleasure to work with it.
We offer Pork on both roast days and it is something you should try. The local Pork is tasty and succulent and reminds me of the meat we used to get from our Pork butcher when I was a child. I eat it most of the time now. But anyway.....Our roast dinners are cooked using all fresh ingredients in the traditional manner.
Our roast potatoes are par-boiled and roasted using the dripping from the meat (although, we usually cook a batch in veg oil for vegetarians), fresh Creamy mash is a dream with the fluffy local spuds, fresh veg comes from the local farms, we make between 50 and 80 yorkshire puddings in the afternoon and real gravy made from the stocks of the veg and meat.
Jules usually bakes a traditional pudding or pie with custard too, just delicious.
Throughout the most of last season, these were our busiest days often turning away customers that had failed to book a table and turning up at the most popular times. We have a good booking system now so hopefully we can seat everyone.

Daily Specials

Everyday the is at least one special meal on the board. Meals like Liver and Bacon with onions or, deep filled yorkshire puddings with mince and onion on a bed of saute potatoes or even Toad in the hole. Just good old fashioned cooking all served with a choice of fresh potatoes and veg.
Sometimes the special is accompanied by a free caraffe of local village wine or a free starter or dessert, it depends how the mood takes us and the feel of the day.
Childrens special meal deals are available at certain times of the day and can save a family a lot of hard earned money.

How about Breakfast?

How can you go wrong. At the Cosy you get what you pay for. If you want a value breakfast you'll get it. Our specials are as cheap, if not cheaper than anywhere else, but you dont get cheap local bacon and strange sausages, even on the special breakfasts we use quality English Back Bacon and English Sausages. Local free range eggs, Heinz beans and a choice of English breaad of village loaf and Tetly or PG tips tea. Let's face it, it's what you like and at the price of the inferior breakfasts.
We also have Linclnshire, Cumberland and Olde English breakfst sausages available, Black Pudding and fresh, yes FRESH mushrooms.
Our american style breakfasts are great for a change. We make our own Sausage pattie similar to a famous burger chain Mc Pattie!!! If you know what I mean, hence is born our popular Sausage and Egg McHello There.
For the lighter breakfast we have ceriel, Continental Brekfasts, yoghurt and fruit. We also serve Marmite on toast or pancakes.

The breakfast on the right is a Cosy Mini priced at 3.50 with a choice of tea, coffee or OJ and with toast and jam

Above is the Cosy Special priced at 5e with tea or coffee, OJ 1 fried slice and 1 toast with jam

Potatoes

Well!! homemade chunky chips this year. We started with homemade chips last year but I wasn't happy with the potatoes for chips, but now we have sourced a great chip potato. We will do so many fresh homemade chunky chips a day then if we run out we will fall back on the frozen ones to finish the day.
As usual our mash and roast will be made in the traditional manner.

Cod and Chips

One of the things we use from frozen, is our Cod. The reason for this is that people that are used to English style fish and chips are not happy with the way it is done here, also the fish isn't cod as we know it.
I do fry Saithe in batter sometimes but we have Cod imported from Grimsby and good it is too, especially with our homemade Chips.

Traditional Greek Meals

At the Cosy Corner we try to offer nothing but the best. We have been complimented on the quality of our Greek food and even on many occasion been told that our traditional dishes are the best in the area.
This is no fluke. We have taken the time to learn about the local food and with the help of some of the finest local cooks in the area (Wives and Mothers of local families) we have learned how to  cook using traditional recipes using local ingredients and methods.
Our Greek menu is not the biggest, but it has great traditional dishes to die for.
