As almost everything at the Cosy Corner, breakfast is cooked fresh to order. No bacon or sausages sitting around waiting for you to come in and order. We use the best quality fresh ingredients, including English back bacon and English sausages, English black pudding, Heinz baked beans, PG tips, local fresh farm eggs, Lurpak butter and fresh mushrooms, none of the tinned ones most of our competitors use and value for money! our menu speaks for itself. Not only the best breakfast, but the best prices too, starting with a full English breakfast, with Tea, coffee or OJ, toast and Jam for just 3.50. Check it out!
It sometimes hurts calling these burgers. Pure meat patties, juicy and delicious and there is a stigma to the word burger that I feel doesn't do these meaty meals justice. If there is one item we are most proud of it is the burgers, handmade daily grilled and seasoned with our special secret seasoning.
Our American style hot dogs are great too, more than fast food a real hearty meal.
The Extreme burger range will be released in season 2011 with some outstanding sandwiches. We are also adding a range of sides to accompany the feasts within these pages.
Fancy something a little different, there are some unusual but extremely tasty Pizzas here. All these have been tried and tested over the past couple of years when we have introduced them as specials and all have been a tremendous success.
On those hot sunny days after a long day on the beach soaking up the sun, your appetite isn't requesting a heavy meal. Instead a light refreshing dish is just what the doctor ordered.
We have tried to balance the salad bar to keep it interesting and tasty and full of variety.
Some salads with nourishing ingredients and some light, but all tasty.
We are working on our starter menu. It is difficult to find a good balance with appetizers but I think we are getting there. I believe that it is an area where most restaurants need to make more effort, as customers are often paying almost as much for a starter as a meal so I am trying to steer away from the typical processed starter generally served and concentrate on handmade traditional food. The balance should be excitingly tasty but not over filling, we strive to perfect this combination.
Above is our Hogie Steak pie. It is a meal in itself, topped with fresh Buttery Mashed Potatoes, Mushy Peas & Gravy!!
Our Homemade pies are all Packed with fillings and not just gravy!! These pies are full of the best ingredients available and topped with either our own flaky, or suet crust pastry. Perfection.
The pie liquour or gravy in the beef pies is made using a recipe handed down from generations of family pie makers and trust me, it is the best. All the other recipes are Shorties own and have been perfected by years of tasting and tweaking and we are extremely proud with the success of these pies. Try one and I guarantee, you'll be back!!
Traditional home cooked food is the essence of what is served at the Cosy Corner.
At least 1 bag of potatoes are peeled for chips, Mash and oven potatoes every day. Fresh veg is prepared and cooked daily, pies are made to order. pie fillings, spaghetti sauces and curries and made daily. When the order reaches the kitch en for your food it is cooked freshly. Pastry is made in the afternoon as is the pie fillings, the evening cooks fill the pie dish, top with pastry and put the pie in the oven. That is fresh. Meat is grilled to order too.
You may have to wait, but when you get it, it's fresh and we will not compromise when it comes to your food.
Please don't under-estimate the quality of our Greek food. Many Greek food fans have praised our food highly, including some Greek people themselves. We have learned the essence of Greek cooking from those who know best, Greek mothers! that is where we believe the heart of home cooked food comes from.
We may not have as many Greek meals as the local restaurants but we have concentrated our efforts on a handful of the most popular and traditional meals. OK, we have added a slant to some, but every Greek cook has their own interpretation of each meal and we are no different.
