Went to meet some friends at The Roadhouse after work with Jules last night. We had a couple of drinks and a nice catch up and said a sad goodbye again to Maureen and Pete.
It was still quite early when we left so we decided to pop into Alykes and have a quick drink with Spikey! Well! we were quite shocked! nearly everything was closed, including Cheers Bar! I didn't know what it looked like in darkness! Mike and Mandy work really long hours in there so I hope they were having a little relax time!
So, Spikeys shut! dissapointed or what! Ah well! maybe next time.
Although the forecasts look drab the weather isn't actually that bad, in fact there was plenty of nice sunshine to be had today!
Tomorrow the forecasters predict storms yet again! and you knock me!! I've been spot on for 2 days now! so that's 2 day wrong and 2 days right! Going for the big one tomorrow!
I think we'll have plenty of sunshine again but maybe some rain in the evening! A few clouds about too!
I've been told that most Thomas Cook hotels close on the 4th October! that's early, but hey ho! we'll see.
That was sad the other day! I spoke to Andreas at the little supermarket between us and the village. We spoke about the AI, of course, it's the main topic of conversation where we are. He asked me if we were going to open next year, and asked if I thought it will be worth it! knocked me back a bit, but I suppose his realisation of how it will affect us all down there had sunk in with him! and that really hit home to me!
I told him not to give up and have faith, I told him that I wouldn't dream of closing until I had put up a good fight!
To be honest, I feel for him. People may still come down to eat at The Cosy from the top end of towm, regular customers and all and also we are going to do some stuff to make it more attractive but, who is going to go down from the top end to use his supermarket! i hope people do, but I fear maybe not and he thinks that too!
I told him that The Letsos Supermarket had an even bigger problem that we have with the new Market Express opening across the road, but they have dug their heels in and seem to be doing OK. I' sure he'll be ok too.
We are actually looking forward to next season, we are popping with ideas, things that we have spoken about over the years but have been too busy to do. We will take the opportunity to do some of them now and also, it should open up some time for us to enjoy the company of the friends we have made over the years. The past 3 years we haven't had the time for a chat with you all and we miss that! Next year opens that door again.
It was great tonight. About 9pm, I said to Jules "everybody in the restaurant at the moment are regulars, people who come back to us every year! and we know them all well, friends of the Cosy Corner!
Well! I think you should be off to the beach in the morning as there will be plenty of sunbathing and swimming to be had! Enjoy!
