Another week of yukky weather, temps still low and no sign of sunshine.
Also, I've got a cold now!! Boo Hoo! Man flu you know! I felt a bit rough last Monday but got over it in a day so i thought that was it, then this morning got it full on. It's not bad timing though, because I have a day where I have nothing to do tomorrow and all I had to do today was a Greek lesson which I have at home. My poor tutor may catch it though, but i didn't feel bad at the time, dosed up and forgot about, but the evening time took it's toll.

Opening mac's was a reasonable success for a first weekend, but we never had as much trade as we'd have liked. Our fault in someways, never advertised it as well as we couldhave. I think it may take a couple of weeks to get it rolling, but at least itis getting a run around the block. You never know, we might even tempt Charlie Sausage away from his bootiful pork products one weekend!
All seemed to go well, fish and chip night a success, with Grimsby Cod and chips at 4.90e, pollock and chips (which over here tastes as good as cod) 3.50 and not forgetting my homemade steak pie and chips at 4.50e, a good response and great feedback.
Saturday, Pavlos and Wendy hosted the burger night, which is what Mac's is really all about, serving our range of wonderful handmade Burgers.
Sunday, well! I had fun and games with the take out roast dinner day!
I had ordered all the meat fresh from the supplier on the Friday for pick up on Saturday. when I arrived Saturday the owner informed me that he had not yet had time to cut and trim the meat and could I come back later. I had a busy day ahead making piesand sausages so I asked if I could pick it up at 10 Sunday morning. He said OK that would be good for him. Guess what!! Got there at 10am and he was closed. His father who looks after the store next door suggested that I return an hourl ater, which I did. The large plastic carrier with my goodies was awaiting my arrival along with an apollogy, all was good! I thought!
As soon as I looked at the cut of beef I was worried. It looked and felt like something I wouldn't even mince. But surely not, my faithful supplier wouldn't give me a duff cut, not on a Sunday, as he now would be like all the other suppliers, closed!
As the offending cutroasted, I had decided to roast it on a low heat, eating away precious time, ittightened like a squaddies boot. I frantically phoned round as many people as Icould that I thought might be able to ease my plight but to no avail. Iconsidered sourcing a cow for slaughter as an option but there were noneavailable and I couldn't do it anyway. When I had finished with my ridiculousideas, and just before panic set in, my mobile sprang to life. Jules came tothe rescue. She had sourced a small joint, enough to pacify the orders that Ihad. Panic over.
4pm we opened. The vegetables cooked, roast potatoes cooked, lovely and crisp. Yorkshire puddings, enough to start, but will cook these as demand picks up, gravy ready and in warmer, meat just right, i had cooked the succulent pork on site and Jules had cooked the beef at home along with the roast tatties and brought them along. All was good. We were ready.
I decided, as things were now relaxed that I would cook the next batch of Yorkies! Greased the pan and placed it in the center of the oven and switched on. Great. After about a minute, the oven died. No fan and no heat, just a glowing from the illuminated lamp which concluded that the fault was not a supply fault and the matter was more serious than can be attended to on the day of rest. A shame that the lamp did not omit enough heat to cook the Yorkies, no matter how long I left them.
I always say, where there's a Williams there's a way and we muddled through the afternoon without compromising quality. most important. I am now looking forward to this week’s adventure!
the Supershop guys are back on the 8th Feb, got a few bits on order but not much, but when they get here we have a lot of business to take care of so I'll be busy that week.Oooh!
Should have a gig next week at Bowl m Over Tsilivi, so that will feed the addiction. Need to scream sometimes, ir's so satisfying.
I've asked local lady Hilary if she would take on a weather update section for me, as the site is taking up a lot of time now and I could do with a little help. I think she'll be good at it. She also tells me that another chap we know may be willing to lend a hand too, which will help me loads with the site expansion, it means that I can push forward with some new ideas, so fingers crossed and I hope to hear from them soon.
