Holiday, Well! sort of. Just a few hours actually

Posted by shortie on August 15, 2012 at 3:30 AM

Today is a big Greek holiday and most places that are not open for tourists are closed. Suppliers etc, so as a result, I have had to keep a simple menu today and there will be little cooking for me to do, so, we will join our Greek friends and take a little time off.
The holiday is to commemorate the Assumption of Mary.
Celebrated every year on August 15, the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary commemorates the death of Mary and her bodily assumption into Heaven, before her body could begin to decay--a foretaste of our own bodily resurrection at the end of time. Because it signifies the Blessed Virgin's passing into eternal life, it is the most important of all Marian feasts and a Holy day of obligation.
So, it's off to the beach or pool! fantastic! will let you know tomorrow where we decided to go and maybe a couple of piccies too!

in the mean time, here's a lovely little place we discovered yesterday and we had the best food we have had since being on the island! Will tell you all and show more tomorrow! Right now, the sun is shining and we're off!
