Just a Quickie! (Well! it was)

Posted by shortie on July 21, 2012 at 5:25 PM

Not a lot of time this morning, had a lazy morning in bed and got up late! Well, we've been working hard and got in late.
We did manage to creep down to the beach for a swim yesterday afternoon, it was so hot, we needed to cool off a bit!
I have to mention about the heat at the moment. All you seasoned sunbathers coming over at this heatwavey period. The sun is really intense and even those who think they can tolerate it and have done for years are getting burned. The medical centre is full or people with serious burns from the sun. I have taken people there myself. In fact, I burned badly myself, just sitting up on a sunbed eating a meal! and that was earlier this year.
Please be careful, trust me, it is catching so many out!
We had Big Red and Brenda pop over to say hi and have a meal at the end of their holiday this week and as if to make a point, they usually come over earlier to see us but Red burned his feet so badly he couldn't walk. They still looked painful when they were here. Bless them, they still come over and it was great to see them as always.

Last night we met Gazza and June for the first time staying at the Pothos Alykes. Another really nice couple to add to our collection of nice people we've met from the Cosy.

It was Junes birthday so Gazza decided to come over to celebrate it Cosy Style! Unfortunately I had to leave early to work in Tsilivi so only had a small amount of time to chat, but hopefully we'll see them again at some point.

Always a pleasure to see these 2. Alan Evertonian and Clint, staying at the Venus with their respective families. I'll get a picture of them all together over the next few days.
Sadly leaving us!

This lovely couple the Pughes, oh and Wayne! Leaving us after a fortnight! (Not Wayne of course!)

What a nice family. Joanne and family, regulars at the Cosy this year and say they will be back next year too.

Patrick and Donna from shortieweb ended their holiday just the other day. It was great to meet them and hopefully we'll see them again. They made the Trek from Alykes at least 3 times. Hope to see you soon.

Bye to bob and Linda after their 5 week stay! and they are back again in about 4 weeks. Bless! Just missed them in DNA last night, sorry! see ya soon!
Well, we went for a bite to eat Thursday lunchtime and decided to try the oasis again this year to see what had changed, if anything. Well, it hadn't.
Walking down we passed through Ammos bar and I have to say, this is the best way to enter the Alykanas Beach. What a setting and all credit to the owners, they make it that way.

Approaching Ammos from the Cosy side (you get wet from any other!) The welcoming entrance to the bar that leads onto the beach.

Palm covered parasols line the path to the beach. Reggae music playing at the right volume as you make your way through makes it so inviting. A real paradise setting. I just want to stop here and relax with a cold beer everytime I pass through. The trouble is, we have so many places to try, but we will soon, and I look forward to it.

I'm not sure of the cost of the sunbeds here, but it is great to spend your day at Ammos, soaking up the sun, right next to the sea with this beautiful bar right behind.
Another Gem on our doorstep.

As we approach Oasis I wonder if it is looking a little tired now. i'm sure it could do with a little facelift. It is on the edge of having a rustic feel but a little work would bring that home.
The nice thing about Oasis is that the steps to the front lead right into the sea, so while you are waiting for your food to arrive you can have a dip. Nice!

An ice cold Amstel in hand, watching some people pass in an inflatable sofa is just great.
The setting is nice, the view is second to none as is any along this coastline.
The menu is quite basic, but a good choice for a snack menu. Ranging from Gyros plates to omlettes and spaghetti's.

All in all, if you are on the beach I think Oasis is worth a visit. Pop in for a snack, a swim and a cold beer! and just relax for a couple of hours. The service is friendly too.
Anyway! reality dawns and I have to work today. I started writing this yesterday and it was just going to be a quick one but now it is Sunday and I thought I would complete it properly.
